couple of months ago I fitted a Roman blind 2.5 mtrs wide for a customer. The problem is that, because of the width, the metal bar weight in the bottom makes it very difficult for her to raise the blind due to her weak wrists. Can anyone suggest an alternative to this weight?

Assuming it's a standard operation, get it converted to a deluxe
I never sell pull cord romans, they're a pain. Generally uneven after a few uses (customer problem) and cleat holes very close together if fixing in to brick work. Deluxe much easier to use, and can even get brown cords fitted if in to wood conservatory or window frame

Thanks for the reply GVM, but it is already a De-Luxe. Having "played" with the blind for half hour this morning I have established that the problem is the weight of the weight on such a wide blind.

With a Roman that big the tension for operating it will be quite a lot, like you say, good fix point next to chain control is probably all you can do Phugly.

Another suggestion is to tell the customer to use one hand to lift the bar, thereby reducing the weight on the chain operation. Failing that, could replace with a heavy-duty sidewinder but prohitively expensive at about £80 trade. They have a gearing system so very lightweight. Best to stick to first suggestion.

Fitted a 180 cm width roman deluxe today , the fabric was not hanging properly near the centre (sagging down and out of line with the other folds!).
On checking the reverse side , it was only too obvious why ! One cord that joins the fibre rods was entirely missing ! Straight away a D/O/R.
This is a typical Sillarys mistake , which we do not need on the run up to Xmas!
Anyone else seen this error!
