Red, it takes a few months of non 3/99 marketing before diaries start filling again. Like you, when it was dropped in this area, leads dropped, but a year on, we're back to where we used to be, with decent customers, good AOV's and profitable. Our cheapest fix price offer now is capri at 2/£199, and if someone actually wants clouds, it's still dirt cheap but a minimum of 4 blinds. Avensis, lace, zodiac and benton are on 3/ offers starting at £229. I've actually sold 6 awnings in around 5 weeks. Probably did less than a dozen for the whole of last year.
So hang in, it can get better if your FSM holds her nerve.
ps - look after Samantha, you may need her again

Every time new appointments come in she asks me to input a width measurment. Dont know why. No orders are open. Have done soft reset twice and hit her with a hammer a few times but she still keeps asking for a width measurment. I think that last order for the roller has sent her a bit loopy. Oh well. Red

I know its been said on here before, but on reading the last posting, I have to also add my comments on the 3499, which is also on offer in my area.
One of the main reasons that I joined Hillary’s was the link with quality; it is a respected name in the industry.
I had a customer just this week tell me, 'Your company is the Rolls Royce of blinds', before I had even started on my sales patter . . . . . and believe you me, I am no slick salesman in that way.
Unfortunately the 3499 makes us the Aldi/Pound Stretcher of retail blinds, rather than the M&S that we know we are, and are encouraged to act as if we are.
There is a huge gap between the marketing departments 3499, get the suckers in at any cost approach, and the training departments, be professional, use a dust sheet, clean up after yourself, and take the packaging away with you, view of the business.
It can only be described as a Jeckle and Hyde relationship.
I am in line and agree with the way the training department portrays the business, so why is it that marketing is out of step with what is taught as best practice in the training department ?
This is not good for business as a whole and management should wake up to the problem and resolve it to everyone’s benefit
I know that I prefer to be professional and do a good job for the customer, and then get the repeat and recommendation business that I do, at full market price, which is to my and Hillarys mutual benefit.

Richard PRESLEY 113 809 Well said that man I couldn't agree more and I'm sure there are many a folk out there too that would agree. If Hillary's wants to be taken serious amongst the John Lewis's then marketing should perhaps look to them for inspiration and get out of the cheap stalls 'cos we don't need 'em, get in the dress circle or even hire a box to maintain the high standards we all endeavour to achieve in our day to day running our businesses. what ho

Hi Owl You must admit also, that only a tiny percentage of UK wide advisors post on this site so reduced business is not the case for all advisors. Many Advisors are doing well who are both full time and part time and I strongly believe you can't just blame it on 3 4 99. There are many other factors to take into account. I agree that a minority of advisors have been affected by the 3 4 99 offers but many others have not embraced the change to the way Hillarys works over the past few years and this may be one of the causes also. It's a well known fact that us humans are set in our ways and really don't take to change very well. I'm just the same but I will give something a good go and if it doesn't work go back to my old way of working. We had an advisor in our area who started of really well, but just ended up taking the mickey, giving Hillarys a bad name by not turning up to appts and not having the decency to phone the cusomter either and generally giving shoddy workmanship. Both myself and Alan had worked hard over the past 7 years to build up a good business to have it's reputation ruined by this yee ha! I believe his availaibility and post code areas were reduced gradually by H/o and I now believe he has finally left. If he hasn't left, you know who you are if you're reading this, so pull your socks up please or get out!! Keep optomistic!!! Karen ;D Are you now running your area
