I haven't subscribed to SAM yet, mainly on a matter of principle. I'm a part time agent, and have been with Hillarys over 10 years. Now they are asking me to change my mobile co. and pay out £317 to make them more efficient!! Don't get me wrong I think it's a great bit of kit, but I've got to sell a lot of blinds to recoup that outlay. I've now been told come onboard with SAM, or I'll have to go! It just shows, what a small price they put on your head, if they are prepared to let somebody with my experience, Awning and Pleated roof trained, disappear into the mist, because they will not invest in this equipment for you. Talking about penny pinching, I understand they no longer even supply the Order/ Invoice envelopes now! Watch out, we'll have to pay for the sample books and for the delivery of the blinds next (Oops did I pre-empt something)? What's the feeling out there?

Hillarys is a bad place at the moment. Yes you have to pay for everything including printing paper for the orders. lt will not reduce your costs at all. The phone costs nothing, There may be a market for second hand printers from ex-hillarys advisors. The printer you can buy new for about £150, so you can see who is making money out of it. All the bits and pieces that they claim are extras come FREE with it any way. Sam is good, but you are right that we should not have to pay for it.

Can anyone who already has SAM please give the make/model number of the SAM device and the printer. I am also a part time agent, very reluctant to outlay such a large amount of money (will have to sell a lot of Free fitting for £99's to cover the expense) for Sillarys benifit. I am quite happy with paper orders but it looks like I will not be able to hold off for much longer. I am very interested to find out how much this can be purchased for elsewhere. Just so I have more information the next time my FSM brings up the subject.

Play Jawbreaker when bored but thats about it. Worst Gadget I've ever used......... sits on the kitchen sideboard from one end of the week to the next!!!!!! It is not practical on sales calls as it is too inflexable. In 'hind sight' I'd have rather taken the risk of 'no leads' than buy into this 'cr*p!' We will have a big surplus of these for sale on eBay at this rate!

Sorry greenpesto, but I have to disagree. SAM isn't perfect, but I'd rather have it than not have it. It saves .... all that paperwork checking at night missed "out-of-specs" - we all do it occasionally queries due to poor fax printer at HO DORs due to wrong figures/options being keyed in at HO lost orders wrong/missing fits in diary
I agree the hardware leaves a lot to be desired, I'm on my 4th handset since April, and this one is starting to play up. The cost of printer paper is an out-and-out con.
My real concern is Hillarys will cut back on software development. They've invested a lot of money in developing this system and may now want to consolidate some of the cost savings before spending more. We're now in December, where's the major October update we were promised?

Sorry grey van man have to disagreeI would rather spend time at night and get more orders quicker during diary time Sam takes too long in the customer. Ok if it is 1 or possibly 2 blinds any more and your taking up too much time. I would rather be selling than pratting about on this machine. Your right the principle is great but not suited to us.
