You will learn in time. I am on my way out as of last week. Been here over 5 years and I have seen more than enough. Not sure of what "dutters" is on about, but when your area starts recruiting, you will dry up. What you will find is they will molley coddle you and give you all the leads etc in the beginning to make you happy. This however messes up the original advisors in your area, but they do not care. What they do not understand is advisors that have worked an area for a fair amount of time, learn to pick up on who will buy and who won't, and then make a decision as to whether they should persue the sale, or just leave it as a quote, and not waste anybody's time. Don't let their banter about how much they spend in advertising to keep you busy. Those adverts and flyers have been there for ages covering your entire county, so for them to say they are investing £500 or so a month in you personally is absolute dribble. The market has changed as well, it used to be like selling candy to a baby, but today, what would you personally do, carpet the floor, or buy a blind for almost the same amount of money? You might be lucky where you live and your lead to diary is not just one day, but that is the way they are going, and they will get as many people out there to make it that way. Just keep your options open, and have something to fall back on. I used to look at this site a few years back and read about people moaning and never really gave any input, but I am giving you something to think about, and think wisely. If you would like to know more, send me a message and I will do it that way. I just thought people would like to hear my views. Good luck.

I had been with 'em for over 10 years , and to them it amounted to Nothing! The FSM's only care about thier own targets and thier own bonus! - My most recent FSM hardly went out , His Car was Always at his home ! - Absolute Waster! With Hillarys you are just a number . And thats the way you are treated. If i had my time again , i would NOT have joined them in the begining !!! Oh well, each to his own !

Most are just bitter ex advisors be careful . YES! There are far more 'bitter' ones about, but, you'll find VERY FEW that are anything BUT that!

And most of those ex so called bitter agents have been working together all accross the country in one single minded goal and it looks like it is succeding. They are bitter for a reason. Those in the know will know.

I hear loads of advisors have had their marching orders this week because of double dealing.

What you have to ask is why did they have to double deal in the first place. This practice was unheard of up to 5 years ago so what changed to make this happen. I think we all know the answer to this. Then you have to understand that most of these will now go into direct competition and most will do better than they ever did. Not all though. only the best will succeed, but then the best are already doing so. Contrary to popular beleif that Hillarys got rid of dead wood. They did not. They got rid of once succesful advisors who through constant messing around with what was supposed to be their business ended up loosing even there homes in some cases. These once succesful agents were forced to sell other blinds and have gone on to be succesful once again but for themselves. Ask yourself this, what do hillarys do for you that you cant do yourself. They advertise, thats all. Nothing else and that is paid for from giving you a low rate of pay. So if you get this part right and are good at your job then the world is your oyster because there are a lot of cowboys out there and long term agents have the professional approach to make this happen. Average running cost to run a home are about £300 a week. Running your agency with petrol and telephone and IT equipment and accountant and tax and car payments and so on must cost at least £100 a week so you need to earn £400 a week with no spare to live. £500 would get you through. I know some are earning this much and more but not the majority. Not any more. All it is now with Hillarys is pin money or beer money and as such will only attract the short term agent. Relationships between customer and advisor will not be built and people want this more than anything these days. They want to know that Joe Bloogs, that did a great job for them 2 years ago will be coming back to do the conservatory but that is just not the case any more. Your telephone people just send whoever is available with out a care in the world for built up relationships. Still, I am so glad I am out of it now and more happy than I ever was in the final few years with them and better off financially as well. As one poster said earlier its not that easy. It is hard work but rewarding hard work and only the best will survive. Its not for everyone.

This is a noticeable trend!
People outside of Hillarys who run their business are generally isolated. However, many of the ex-Sillarys guys keep in contact & 'bounce ideas' & information of each other! They learn & grow together! United if you like! There are several sites around now that are by invitation only that cater for the likes us lot!
You are not alone!

They were just doing what any company has to do to survive and that is reduce costs but I think it was to the detriment on the advisor and at the end of the day it is they that bring in the work not the fsm. If the advisor cant survive then they are forced to look for other ways.
