GP, now SAM has quick input and mass change of blind type and colour, have you started using it? I find the mass change really useful

I'm using SAM for 90% of my orders now, since the last upgrade. Nearly all orders are input at the customers home too.
Must admit the the mass input section has me confused at the moment. I'll input a larger order at home first to get my head around it.
I still would like the option to over-ride discounts on fabrics & to be able to increase the price so as to give me the option to 'drop close' with a discount if I need to.
We could do with a 10% price increase on SAM so we can discount without it really affecting our commission. Perhaps we could have the option to down-load that on an individual basis if we feel comfortable doing this.

Have you got to the point of prefering it to paper, or just tolerating it under duress?

It's a bit of both really.
I've just modified my last post which gives you an idea as to where I'd rather go with this. Paper gives me total control over my pricing.
SAM is only a tool & should therefore give us the flexability rather than to dictate what we sell it all at.
Other than that it has been good to do everything in the customers house & then forget about it.
The only downside is chasing Quotes Dept for a converted quote to sale. I'd rather be able to pull this from my own Quotes Polling list on SAM, even if it has been a few weeks since the original quote.

Don't know if you are aware but if you open a quote from the day before and re-save it as a quote again it will save with todays date therefore not send it. Doesn't give you 2 weeks (well does if you want to open it every day !!) but handy when you think they will order within a couple of days - stops quotes from calling ofering a discounting and allows you to convert it yourself. I'd also like to override the price upwards.

EVENING EVERYONE Just a reply to some of todays postings. The driver i nicknamed Dracula told me yesterday he is doing 2 days deliveries in 1 as they are a couple of drivers short through illness. Despatch should let you know any changes but dont give a monkeys as we all know. To those of you discussing paper orders, this last week i have been badgered by my FSM to use SAM more than ever. Hillarys probably get a percentage off Vodafone each time we use it. He is also ringing each day as he has a list of any appts i havent converted or left a quote. Its usually because i cant take accurate measurements or if customer wants just prices without picking anything out. If he rings anymore this week i aint answering.

Hi Blindwizard
The new wood venetians are different colours to the current wood and therefore aren't on SAM yet. Should be going onto SAM in October ready for national launch.

Don't worry everyone!!!! ... once my SAM goes 'tits up' I won't be replacing it ....... I don't like it THAT much!!!!! Couldn't afford the £400+ to replace it anyway!!!! I still resent being forced into using it along with all its costs. If I think about this any more I could get really negative about it again!!!!

I'm using SAM for 90% of my orders now, since the last upgrade. Must admit the the mass input section has me confused at the moment. I'll input a larger order at home first to get my head around it. GP, a couple of my local colleagues have said similar, but I find it really useful and actually quite easy once you get to know your way around it, so here's my own personal guide to how I use it. Go in to quick quote mode. Default screen is Measurement tab and ADD radio button. Input Room, Qty. Width, Exact/Recess (optional) Drop. If you know type of blind, measure accurately, if not use rough measurements. Click on AddRepeat as required. When type of blind is known, Change radio button to Edit. Details of first blind will be shown. Select Fabric tab, and complete all fields. Colourway field can be confusing. On roller blinds N-Green, D-Green, P-Green, S-Green all refer to different shapes and pull/poles. Clicking on ? explains these. Select Global Change field. Click on Select All and all blinds will be ticked. Click on Update and all blinds will change and be priced. With vertical multiblind offers, you have to come back to normal price screen to see discounted prices. If you have a mixture of blinds, say 3 venetians and 2 rollers, when you go in to Global Change the Related radio button is default. So if you've selected a venetian, only the venetian blinds will be shown. If you change the radio button to All, the rollers will be shown and will be changed to venetians if selected. Hope this helps, and if anyone has found other ways of using this, please let us all know as I'm all for making my life easier.

BVM!!!Just spent a few hours playing with my SAM & with this quick quote/mass order thingy!!!! I must admit it is OK ... but I still find it quicker to write larger orders down on paper rather than to go around this system. In fact it is still quicker to write a paper order & then transfer it to SAM afterwards than to use the mass ordering system!!!! It could do with a 'tweak' or two!!! HOWEVER!!!!I am willing to give it the benefit & try using it more often. I do feel we need to come up with some fresh improvements for SAM for the I.T. Team to have a go at. It is likely that I'll start a new thread on SAM improvements so that we can put this forward to Kevin & his team!!!! Just a thought here but ...... ....... Although there are so many things wrong with Hillarys I feel that perhaps another attempt to put forward ideas like this to improve our sales & income & our relationship with them is in order. I'm not suggesting another Forum but at least a discussion on here is likely to be looked at by H/O staff when they log on. Should our suggestions be ignored this time & with the same attitude & results as last times fiasco, then it'll be time for all of us to finally call it a day & move on. So with this in mind, I say we have one more go & see if Hillarys meet with this challenge. What do you think?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Or do we all feel just too beaten to bother?
