Am I detecting a slight vein of negativity in your last comment Hereticus Are you finally coming over to the dark side? Interesting observation, or wishful thinking ? No, I’m not crossing to the dark side but, on the other hand, I have never left the fold anyway. There has been a little sniping of late – references to my mates at Nottingham and my cronies at Colwick – which I could find insulting but am prepared to take in good humour. I share the same problems and criticisms of Hillarys as most advisors on this forum and you must surely appreciate that the prominent role that I took in the feedback seminars, and the work I put into the dossier of grievances presented to management, puts me firmly in the pack with the rest of you. There are just three differences in the way we think regarding recent and current progress. Firstly, I came into the open from the start. You all know exactly who I am. Management all know exactly who I am. I feel that being open gave more credibility to the points that I (and others) were putting over on behalf of advisors in general but, if it all backfired, then I had made myself very exposed. Secondly, whilst I share the same gripes as everybody else, I have never subscribed to the conspiracy theory. I do not believe that Hillarys are out to get us, or deliberately exploiting us, because we are their lifeblood, their front line troops. Certainly there is much that is wrong, whether due to bad policy, bad management, bad training, inadequate systems, incompetence, or whatever, but I do not believe that anyone is sitting and deliberately dreaming up ways to make our lives miserable. Thirdly, I believe that the company are being genuine in listening to our concerns, that things are starting to change for the better, and that more and bigger changes are in the pipeline. Many more of our issues will be resolved over the coming months, and management teams are working hard to find solutions to the matters that we have raised. Why do I believe this ? Because what is right for us must also be good for the business. There is no altruism in this process – it is simply good business sense and a win-win proposition. So, please can we drop the insinuations that I have joined forces with the other side. There is much wrong that we can influence but we do need to work together with each other, and together with the company, to get the best outcomes – the degree of negativity on this forum, and certainly some of the tones in which it has been expressed, can only serve to alienate and sideline us from a process in which we should be taking a leading and constructive role. Evolution is more lasting than revolution, and the best way to change something is by working from within, by discussion and negotiation rather than by conflict. I know there is a long way to go and I know that there are fundamental issues about which some amongst us are understandably quite passionate, but I am confident that Hillarys have listened and that we are getting somewhere. I hope that in time I will be vindicated.

The problem being Hereticus is that I'm 52 now. I'll be pensionable before changes are forthcoming in this job. ( And thats no dig at you, and I do still enjoy the job, probably inspite of Hillarys and not because of them!!)

I will drop the long distance mortar-fire, for now! Yes, many of us backwoods-men are passionate about certain issues with Hillarys, and in your last line "you are confident Hillarys have listened and that we are getting somewhere." I just wish someone, even at Colwick, knew where that somewhere is precisely!!==All I want is a little evidence, as Inspector Wexford used to say, "just go and get me a little evidence"....and if someone wants a clue where that evidence could be hidden, try looking in the Account where Hillarys store the stolen and pillaged Commissions-for a start. Hereticus, since the 2 forum meetings 4 very senior advisors have left the Company. We are here talking 5 year plus folk. There are definitely another 2 working their notice ( without telling Hillarys, because we all know what happens to your due monies when you give notice....) and these folk are voting with their feet because -and I have spoken lengthily with 2 of them-" I feel I am being shafted--I tried to get things bettered along with others and Hillarys did nothing--I left with them owing me £ 392.00 (in one case) .The other ex-advisor quoted as "certainly over £600 clawed back without a "by-your-leave", and attempts to get it straight were ignored, right to the top. So they both went. One is doing his own thing in a large town, and is well known, spending £45.00 per week on local ads and making £350/£500 gross per week part-time. I do not know what the other is doing. Lack of wilful attempts by Hillarys to address Money issues are now souring their good sales advisors, and their lack of action is like a dripping tap, eroding the confidence of the thinking professionals, who see nothing happening-regardless of your wordy claims of jam tomorrow-and voting with their feet. Just how is that going to get us somewhere in the future where all that will be achieved will be us , who remain, competing against former Hillarys Agents who have seen a light and followed it. Or should we continue in the darkness as you suggest.? Geographically near you, -ish, in Henley by the road side is a stone memorial placed by a 19th century travelling showman to mark his pet monkeys grave. It reads " All around was darkness, but it was dispelled by you, my one small candle-light" I am in the darkness, can someone at Hillarys just light a candle to show they care. ? They can even use one of the tenners they nicked off me "without a by your leave" to light it if it would help--they have enough of them !! Nonails
