....... I subequently got a standard Quotes Dept letter saying the quote had been Converted at £450 with a big red stamp " Please book fit date". So I did. Customer let slip that she was paying weekly "on the drip" . Alarm Bells. Contacted credit control, and yes, customer paying weekly, not to fit blinds until she'd paid at least 2 months. I find it incredible that a company the size of Hillarys could do this, but perhaps you could turn it to your advantage. Offer to go and collect the weekly payment in return for a service call payment for each visit. You'd make so much money you could take a week off ;D ;D ;D Hillarys probably wouldn't even notice that they were paying you more each week than you were collecting.

I read today we are to be issued with a paying in Card (for Cash payments) that can be used at Post Offices and other locations.
Where was the consultation on this issue???
I have just got a new credit card from Morgan Stanley that pays me 2% on purchases with annual cashback . As stated else where on this forum , i will now take all cash final payments (NOT Deposits!) and then use this new card to make payment to Hillarys. This will increase my CARD payments and should show some gain on the self management reports, Hillarys get thier payment quickly , i bank cash into my own bank account . Then collect a 2% bonus after 12 months!(remembering to pay Morgan stanley in FULL at each statement date)
In 2 weeks i have already used this format to bank £850! ( thats £17 in my bin @ 2%) Great!
Who is gonna use the new Hillarys card !!!!

As you have said yourself GVM, you need it to pay in cash deposits. Or the solution is not to take cash as deposits, but to collect the full cash balance on fit. After all, Quotes Dept don't take cash or cheque deposits, only cc/dc.

If the sale gets cancelled, Hillarys refund to your credit card, and you send the customer a personal cheque( or drop the cash round.) It's never happened to me yet though.... Read the small print with your Morgan Stanley card though...the 2% only applies to the first £2000 you spend. I have still made £118 on mine by using it for all my shopping as well as Hillarys cash payments. ;D The cash payment you then put in a seperate account that pays interest, and use it to pay your card off each month. Easy...and more convenient than queuing at the bank or post office to pay in.

As avid followers of this forum will know I have been doing this for 18 months, sadly cash back bonus now dropping to 1%, but plenty other cards available if u search the web, giving 2% back. This paid for all our Xmas shoppoing last year. Thank you Hillarys for offering this super opportunity to ALL the sales agents. As you say card payments will rocket for stats purposes, but who gives a toss about Hillarys monthly statistics. As much use as n ashtray on a motor-bike! Nonails

Yes.... take the cash from the customer.... give them a receipt for the cash on the old order forms, and then put the payment through on SAM with your credit card details when you leave the customers house. For final balances, just sign their yellow copy as having paid cash, and then enter your card details through SAM again. Put all the cash in an account that pays intererst, and pay off your "cash back" credit card in full each month with the money from the savings account. You win twice..... cash back, interest earned, and the bonus of not queuing in the post office. Hillarys happy too..... ;D

How about this for a WIN - WIN idea. I do my utmost to resist cash payments, but you can't refuse them all. I've never, in 16 years, banked the Hillarys way, I've always sent a personal to cover cash payments but I think I've found a better way. So here's my idea ... When I can't avoid cash payments, I'll pocket the cash a transact a personal credit card payment. Hillarys are happy, they get the money immediately. FSMs happy, my SMR looks good I'm happy, I get paid commission quicker and the cash sits in my bank for a month reducing the interest on my offset mortgage. All I need now is a card with a good cash back offer and I'll even make a profit. Deposits could be iffy if the customer cancels, but can't see any danger with balance payments. Anyone tried it or see a pitfall? I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now, and taken just over £1,500 in deposits and balances, earning me £30+ cash back - completely tax free and legal. When taking a cash deposit, I just say to customer "we can't take cash electronically on SAM, so I'll just put this through on a company payment card to speed things up" and then change their SAM receipt from CARD to CASH. So that's £30 in my pocket,£1,500 benefiting my offset mortgage, and quicker commission. AM I HAPPY? OH YESSSSSSSS

Anyone tried it or see a pitfall? Thought I'd do a little update on this. Been doing this since April. Not quite as good as I'd thought, as the 2% first 3 months then 1% cashback only applies to the first £2000 in each year, after which it drops to 0.5%. However, I've just cashed in £135, and still have around £20 available. My commission gets paid quicker, as virtually all balances are paid by credit card. (take only 2-3 cheques/month) Don't have to bank until it suits me, then can be cash machine deposit at night if necessary. Interest on my offset mortgage is reduced by having around £2k each month sat in bank waiting to pay card. So, I'm happy, and know some of my colleagues have done the same

Nope, the transaction is automated on SAM. Hillarys have no idea whether the card used belongs to me, the customer, or frostie the snowman. They get their money instantly, why should they complain
